Marriage Counseling
Most people would agree that marriages, at least in this country, are in trouble. The statistics are staggering. Approximately 40% of all marriages, whether Christian or non-Christian, end in divorce, often within the first five years. Society has placed a great deal of stress on the marriage relationship as well as the family. Our society seems to be moving at a faster and faster pace and the marriage bond has all but reached its breaking point.
For instance, the media bombards us with sexually explicit images and open degradation of husbands and fathers as role models. The television and film industry has shown recreational sex to be an acceptable lifestyle choice and that sex outside of marriage is perfectly okay as long as it is consensual. The sanctity of marriage, as ordained by God, has taken a tremendous hit. The cost of living skyrocketed and many couples find themselves going deeper and deeper into debt just to stay afloat. Children are often left unsupervised after school because both parents need to work just to make ends meet. We live in a consumer world where adults and children alike are taught that the next expensive electronic device to hit the market will make our lives easier. Mounting financial responsibilities and the lure to “put it on the card,” often is the final straw to undermining even the best marriage relationship.
David and Susie Meier understand how vulnerable the marriage relationship can be. Because they saw the Lord work first hand in their own relationship, they feel called to bring Christ’s love and message of healing to others who want to strengthen their marriage. They utilize a variety of inspiring and relevant teaching resources in their counseling ministry, including Christian Counselors Jimmy and Karen Evans, John Hagee and David T. Moore.
Divorce Counseling
David and Susie have had a heart for divorced individuals for several years. They agree with the focus of the Divorce Care ministry philosophy that says, “ There aren’t many people around you who understand the pain your divorce or separation has caused You, your Family, or your Friends.” Individuals caught up in the chaos of divorce often feel alone and distanced from those around them. Initially, family and friends rally around to provide comfort and support but eventually the individual is left to work through his/her pain alone and disillusioned. Even the most well-grounded believer in Jesus Christ becomes confused and disoriented by the circumstances.
David and Susie want to help and encourage those who need support and refocusing during this difficult time. Utilizing a wonderful Christ-centered resource, entitled Divorce Care*, their goal is to assist separated or divorced individuals in working through their questions and alleviating their pain.
If you, or someone you know, is suffering from marriage (relationship)difficulties or has recently gone through the pain of divorce or separation, Tahoe Christian Ministries may be able to provide that much needed support and encouragement.
